







We were staying in Leongatha the weekend the Churchill Bushfires started. We were some 25 kms away from them and i took these photos from where we were staying. It was shocking - at that stage we had no idea that it took anyone's lives or homes. As it was just the Bunyip national Park.
It was scary feeling when your in the swimming pool one minute and feel as if your not sure you should be in there any more and end up getting out. To have the place have heavy black smoke cover the sky all around you. Then for it to rain ash rain instead of clear rain like usual was like hell. As you can see from the car below.
I saw a glowing coming from across the road it was the high flames coming down the mountain. They were still not close enough to us. As we were 25 kms at all times if not futher.

WOW, that night shot with the fire in the sky is scary, great shot but scary fire.
it was only 5.30pm during the arvo when i took that picture at night. It wasn't even night time. The smoke in the air made it feel like dark but it wasn't.
